The Director of Practice will work with the Executive Director to plan and manage the work of the mission of the center as it relates to professional development and policy initiatives. Examples of responsibilities include representing the center at community meetings around Boston, grant seeking and writing and fundraising activities, networking/ coordinating with early childhood programs locally and across the nation. In addition, the director will be asked to collaborate on preparing progress reports for funders, BU Institutional Review Board applications, preparing grant/contracts, and assisting with manuscript preparation for research/policy briefs when needed.

Required Skills
  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in psychology, behavioral/social science, education, social work, public policy, or early childhood education is required
  • Must be skilled at using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel and be willing to learn new software programs for coding and data entry
  • Prior experience with training and professional development is needed
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish or Chinese, prior experience working in early childhood programs, and/or prior experience with ethnic/racial minority populations are a plus
  • Strong organizational skills, communication skills (both written and oral), and attention to details is a must
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and independent but also able to work collaboratively on a team
  • Cultural sensitivity required (the ability to communicate and interact professionally and respectfully with people of a different race, ethnicity, ability, social class, gender, and sexuality)
