Associate Provost for Academic Administration
The Provost’s Office of New Mexico State University seeks applications for the position of Associate Provost for Academic Administration (APAA) This full-time (1.0 FTE), administrative position reports directly to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, and works closely and collaborates with the leadership in the Division of Academic Affairs: Human Resource Services (HRS), Employee and Labor Relations (ELR), Office of the General Counsel (OGC), Office of Institutional Equity (OIE), Vice President of Equity, Inclusion and Diversity (VPEID), the Office of Institutional Analytics (OIA), and the senior academic leadership including academic deans and department heads across the NMSU System.
The Associate Provost for Academic Administration provides leadership and project management and development in the context of academic (faculty) personnel to include development of new business practices, procedures and policies; process improvement and automation; and professional development for academic administrators – all in support of faculty administrators such as deans, directors and department heads. The academic personnel work includes providing academic units with support and guidance for the recruitment, hiring, contracting, compensation, performance review, promotion, internal investigation and discipline, per current policies and operational standards, in concert with HRS personnel and policies. The APAA reviews academic agreements and contracts and oversees compliance requirements and policy administration and implementation for which Academic Affairs is responsible. The APAA provides leadership for special projects including some in conjunction with the President and Chancellor’s Offices. The APAA also supervises administrative support staff in the Provost’s Office.
