Position Description:

The DNP project is a research endeavor. The student develops a manuscript to demonstrate, through a critical and systematic process, the AACN Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice. At the completion of the DNP project, the candidate is expected to successfully defend a complete DNP manuscript for the project and to disseminate the findings in an appropriate forum.

The Bay Path DNP Program requires a DNP Project Chair to provide episodic advisement, oversight, supervision and coaching to students through six (6) academic semesters, beginning in NUR 765 (Capstone I) and culminating in NUR 775 (Capstone II). The ideal candidate will serve as the DNP project chair for the entire duration of four (or more) students' projects. Successive contracts will be offered for each of the six academic semesters to create continuity for the process.

Requirements:

• Degree requirements for position:

  • Hold a terminal degree in Nursing and possess sufficient experience in the role of project chairperson for scholarly student work.

  • Current (or eligible for) Massachusetts RN licensure.

• The incumbent must be able to:

  • Identify with the DNP student the specific, measurable and obtainable goals to construct a framework for the student to successfully achieve the DNP Essentials and the program learning outcomes for the Bay Path University Doctor of Nursing Practice Program.

  • Support and enhance the DNP student's efforts to develop systematic organizational and leadership skills necessary to complete a DNP project within the context and time constraints of the project guidelines.

  • Assist the DNP student to effectively collaborate with the project committee via written and verbal channels. This may include consistent meetings, clarifying expectations and goals of the committee members, and supporting a collaborative relationship with the mentor at the implementation site.

  • Support and collaborate with the DNP project committee members to provide effective communication and coordination of required activities, reviews, revisions, etc.

  • Coordinate the DNP proposal defense and the final project defense (with the Capstone Coordinator's assistance).

• Other preferred experiences:

  • FNP program teaching experience

  • Hybrid or online graduate teaching experience

• Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
