The Syracuse University Future Professors Fellowship Program is designed to support scholars from underrepresented minority groups on their path to becoming faculty members. The fellowship will provide financial support for salaries and benefits of fellows for two years. Applicants will select a mentor among highly competitive and productive faculty members. Five positions will be available every year.



Applicants must hold a terminal degree in any academic field, particularly in engineering or other STEM fields. Scholars with interdisciplinary teaching and research are also encouraged to apply.



This fellowship program is designed to provide fellows with professional mentoring and research training under the guidance of established faculty. Fellows will conduct research and/or creative work in their chosen field of study, in collaboration with one or more Syracuse University faculty members. Fellows also will teach one course per year to gain teaching expertise, in the area of their scholarly expertise. In addition to teaching and research, fellows will have the opportunity to mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Funds will be provided to cover one trip per year for travel to a conference (when public health conditions allow).
