Stanford University School of Medicine, is seeking a Director for the Stanford Center for Innovation in In-vivo Imaging, (SCi3). The Director will provide financial, operational, and scientific/technical leadership for a world-class small animal imaging facility located in the School of Medicine.
The mission of the SCi3 is to provide access to state-of-the-art and first-of-its-kind preclinical imaging instruments to facilitate translation of research from in-vitro tests to small animal investigations and clinical practice. This enables assessments of new technologies, novel drugs/tracers, variable phenotypes and novel biological concepts in living murine models.
Duties include:
- Work with Stanford faculty researchers to develop and update strategic plans to maintain a state-of-the-art instrumentation facility.
- Strategic plans include the development of funds to cover new instrument purchases, cover the instrument maintenance contracts, and manage the limited space available. This requires the Director to write successful instrumentation grants for the Center.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience managing the finances and operations of at least a medium-sized core facility. In the absence of such experience, other relevant financial management and/or operational experience.
- A PhD in a related scientific field.
- Computer skills sufficient to manage and maintain the data storage systems of the facility.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
- Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, including expertise in multiple state-of-the-art small animal imaging modalities, as demonstrated by publications.
- Experience managing the finances and operations of at least a medium-sized core facility and in the absence of such experience, other relative financial management and/or operational experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
- Expert knowledge of the principles of engineering and related sciences and in multiple state-of-the-art small animal imaging modalities.
- Demonstrated project and technical leadership.
- Demonstrated experience leading and/or managing technical professionals.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
- Frequently grasp lightly/fine manipulation, perform desk-based computer tasks, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Occasionally stand/walk, sit, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp forcefully.
- Rarely kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), reach/work above shoulders, use a telephone, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts, operate foot and/or hand controls, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- May be exposed to high voltage electricity, radiation or electromagnetic fields, lasers, noise > 80dB TWA, Allergens/Biohazards/Chemicals /Asbestos, confined spaces, working at heights 10 feet, temperature extremes, heavy metals, unusual work hours or routine overtime and/or inclement weather.
- May require travel.
