Job Description

Northern Arizona University’s Marketing Department is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Community Manager. This position is responsible for planning, posting, and moderating content across a variety of internal and external facing platforms, with a primary objective of supporting organic lead generation. Through daily engagement and analysis, the Community Manger will foster engagement, offer optimizations to digital strategy and creative teams, and support the success of paid and organic marketing campaigns.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plans and implements community engagement strategies, content, and campaigns on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google My Business, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc, that support digital and strategic marketing plans and KPI’s.
• Monitors owned and paid social channels, posting and moderating within university criteria and best practices.
• Uses data and social listening to proactively seek out opportunities to grow NAU’s presence and to unify its identity on all social channels.
• Shares industry and community insights by pitching new ideas and sharing relevant findings.
• Delivers support and attention to engaged audiences, surfacing emerging trends and addressing public relations opportunities.
• Works cross-functionally within the Digital Marketing unit to analyze performance, align on KPI’s, and plan for optimization.
• Collaborates with marketing colleagues, subject matter experts, and key stakeholders.
• Contributes to unit- or department-level process or/and system troubleshooting and optimization.
• Produces reports and communications that interpret information for key stakeholders.
• Works with the university’s strategic communications unit to ensure compliance with social media policies and coordination with the university’s social media platforms.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in related field; AND,
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the social media space.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Three or more years of professional community management experience.
• Experience in digital marketing, brand marketing, video production, PR, and/or customer service

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Excellent communication skills (written, oral, presentations).
• Demonstrated experience collaborating and maintaining effective working relationships across diverse teams and with clients.
• Skill in preparing reports and summaries.
• Demonstrated problem solving, organizational, and analytical capabilities.
• Knowledge of social marketing concepts, technologies, and trends.
• Knowledge of community management best practices including the crafting of response to social media commentary.
• Experience executing strategy, content, and campaigns for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google My Business, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
• Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities, with excellent time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Working knowledge of social media management platforms such as Sprout Social, Zapier, etc.
• Promotes a diverse, inclusive environment.
• Demonstrates resiliency and balance to maintain stamina and positivity. Approaches change and new situations as positive opportunities for learning or growth.

Background Information

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check.

Additionally, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States.

Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus and NAU-Fort Defiance as these campuses have on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.

Salary

The budgeted salary amount is $45,000 - $59,000.

**The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System; paid vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. More information on benefits at NAU is available on the Human Resources benefits website. Classified Staff employees are in a probationary status for their first six months at NAU.

Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). New employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the pay period following their enrollment, after their employment date. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. Additionally, new employees will begin participating in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date.
