Responsibilities:

DePaul University invites applications for a founding Director of Engineering to begin in summer 2021. The founding Director, who would be a full-time faculty member, will lead our entry into accredited engineering programs, initially in environmental and civil engineering. These programs would build on our strong presence in the sciences and technology, including growing programs in environmental science and the health sciences, geography, network engineering programs, an innovative cyber-physical systems engineering program, and an industrial design program under development. Reflecting DePaul's social justice values, our engineering programs will be undergraduate, providing, through focused recruiting and support, access to and success in engineering careers for a diverse population, regardless of gender, ethnicity, and STEM preparation. We will welcome the inaugural cohort of students in fall 2022.


Required Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications

  • A PhD in a field of engineering, preferably related to Environmental or Civil.
  • Administrative leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated record of scholarship and outstanding teaching and service sufficient for appointment with tenure or tenure-track.
  • Demonstrated record of recruiting, retaining, and guiding diverse populations to successful completion of degree


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience establishing internship programs and external community engagement.
  • Familiarity with ABET accreditation standards.
  • Commitment to developing innovative curriculum.
