Position SummaryThe individual in this position is responsible for supervising the entire operation of the Leonardtown Campus Testing Center. This individual maintains, monitors, supervises and schedules Testing Center activities including, but not limited to skill assessments, diagnostic exams, credit by exam-departmental exams, national tests such as CLEP and DSST (Dantes), correspondence, classroom, distance education, credit free program testing, and non-CSM proctored exams.



The work schedule for this position is 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a 30 minute break. Flexibility is required.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages, maintains, monitors, and coordinates all testing activities at the Leonardtown Testing Center.
  • Supervises Testing Center Assistants and student assistants.
  • Ensures all operations and staff actions adhere to all college and campus policies and procedures.
  • Administers the college’s skills assessments, departmental, credit-by-exam, distance education, online, self-paced, and credit-free program testing, as well as other designated tests at the Leonardtown campus.
  • Administers PearsonVue, CLEP, DSST, Castle, Microsoft, ASE, and other national tests in the Leonardtown Testing Center as a test site for national test vendors.
  • Responsible for accurate entry of skill assessment results into the Colleague System.
  • Manages the monitoring system of the testing center to ensure that academic integrity. standards are being adhered to as it pertains to testing at all times.
  • Disseminates accurate information concerning all Testing Center activities.
  • Maintains security of all tests, test records and student files.
  • Maintains a tracking system for all Testing Center activities; including Non-CSM proctored tests. Provides required reports (monthly and annually) of testing activities at the Leonardtown Testing Center.
  • Participates in the administration and processing of the college’s local high school assessments and community testing programs.
  • Managerial duties involve regular communication with various CSM Departments such as IT, Facilities, Call Center, Advising, Bursar's, Procurement, etc., to ensure that Testing Center needs are met.
  • Maintains and updates the Testing Center web page.

    Additional Duties:

    Performs other related work as required. Minimum Education and Training

  • Associate Degree required, Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a college testing center or in test administration at a college or public high school level.
  • Must be or become trained/certified to administer exams for a variety of national vendors and exam clients. Minimum Qualifications and Standards RequiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Knowledge of testing and test administration.Keen attention to detail.Experience in directing other’s work.Experience in working with a diverse population, including those with disabilities and those from other cultures.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Excellent organization and planning skills.Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to work without close supervision.Ability to multitask and prioritize.

    Physical Requirements:

    The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Handling: Picking, holding, or otherwise working, primarily with the whole hand.
  • Visual ability: sufficient to effectively operate office equipment including copier, computer, etc.; and to read and write reports, correspondence, instructions, etc.
  • Hearing ability: sufficient to hold a conversation with other individuals both in person and over a telephone; and to hear recording on transcription device.
  • Speaking ability: sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals in person and over a telephone.
  • Mental Acuity: Ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
