Position SummaryUnder general supervision, the Financial Aid Analyst provides daily support and contact with financial aid and scholarships applicants and parents regarding financial aid/scholarship eligibility requirements, satisfactory academic progress, personal budgeting techniques, and resolution of family financial circumstances which could preclude attendance at the university. Reviews system-generated need analyses/awards to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Assesses student's current and potential financial and academic circumstances and makes appropriate recommendations. When appropriate, utilizes professional judgment to apply existing guidelines and procedures to students with unusual circumstances and devises solutions to problems for which precedents do not exist. Assists various program coordinators with responsibilities as needed (e.g., NSLDS, File Review, QC Report, Scholarships, Satisfactory Academic Progress). This position will support the financial aid needs of students at the San Diego, Imperial Valley, and Global Campuses.For more information regarding the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, click here.There are three vacancies. These are full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary positions anticipated to end on or before July 31, 2021. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but will vary based on operational needs. These positions are designated non-exempt under FLSA and are eligible for overtime compensation.Education and ExperienceEquivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Equivalent amounts of graduate level job-related education may be substituted for the required experience.Preferred QualificationsExperience working in a Financial Aid Department at California State University.Experience working with the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Financial Aid (FA) Module to administer financial aid and scholarships.Experience using CSU developed CMS Baseline modifications to the standard delivered PeopleSoft Campus Solutions FA module.Professional experience working with students.Customer service experience.Compensation and BenefitsStarting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,796 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,796 - $5,369 per month.
