Organizational Unit Overview:

The PM&R Department serves the rehabilitation needs of the 1.3 million people in a 29-county region of eastern North Carolina and is located within Vidant Rehabilitation Center at Vidant Medical Center, with Spinal Cord, Brain Injury, General Rehab, and Pediatric Rehabilitation Units.
The Center’s 57-bed inpatient unit is one of few rehabilitation facilities in the U.S. accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) in eleven or more specialty areas. The Center is also one of the five centers of excellence at Vidant. Vidant Medical Center is a JCAHO-accredited Level I Trauma center with 974 beds and is one of seven hospitals owned by Vidant Health.
The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center (formerly Pitt County Memorial Hospital). Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Job Duties :

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) seeks a board certified/board eligible PM&R physician to provide care in occupational medicine and PM&R clinical care.

The occupational medicine clinic is located in the Vidant Medical Center and local occupational medicine satellite locations, in addition to acting as the Medical Review Officer.

The candidate will see and treat work-related injuries, provide fitness for duty evaluations, and follow best practice guidelines related to return to work national benchmarks.

The PM&R clinical care to be provided includes opportunities of inpatient rehab, musculoskeletal care, musculoskeletal ultrasound, Botox, baclofen, EMG, SSEP, VEP, phenol blocks, and wound/hyperbaric medicine.

The candidate will participate in the training of residents, medical students, and other allied health students.

Research is supported and is a valued component of the position.

Fixed Term position is available at the title of Assistant Professor or higher.

Minimum Education/Experience :

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an appropriately accredited institution.
Board certified or board eligible in PM&R

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :
