Summary

The Manager of the Tulane Diabetes Program at the Center for Diabetes provides program leadership and works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team in providing education related to the care and management of diabetes for patients and healthcare professionals. The Manager serves as a consultant, facilitator, practitioner, and educator for the diabetes population at Tulane Health System (all locations). The Manager is responsible for assessing and evaluating patient needs, providing specialized teaching for patients and families, and follow-up care on this assigned patient population. The Manager also provides education and acts as a resource for hospital staff for the defined patient population. This role will report directly to and work closely with the Center for Diabetes Program Director to build curriculum and manage productivity of the program. The Manager will assist with planning events and marketing for the program. The position requires the candidate to have leadership experience as a supervisor or managing a recognized diabetes education program. Interacts and works with the TUMG Medical Director's office to ensure quality metrics are met. The Manager works closely with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care. For example, an RN will coordinate care with an RD and vice versa as needed. Functions under general supervision of the Program Director and physicians subject to a minimum of continuous and direct control. The Manager is expected to operate with a reasonable degree of independence. Will supervise one or more Registered Dietician and Certified Diabetic Educator (s).

Required Qualifications

  • Either a Registered Nurse or a Registered Dietitian
  • Five years experience in related clinical area
  • Two years progressive leadership experience to include experience leading an ADA or AADE recognized program

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Diabetes Educator
