Our community is a tight knit group of remarkable individuals interested in intellectual inquiry and making a difference in the world.

Requirements

The Senior Director of Creative Services (SDCS) develops the strategy and oversees the production of video, graphic design, and editorial within the Office of Strategic Communications.

The SDCS manages the central video and graphic design services as a part of the Creative Services Team in the Office of Strategic Communications. This includes supervising the designated university videographer(s) and designer(s) and coordinating with other university creatives (including third party and vendors). Operationally, this entails building client relationships, ensuring that all client projects are in line with Georgetown's overarching brand identity, supervising and providing creative direction to other producers on the team, executing the production of video products, and managing the business operations of Creative Services.

As the lead for creative direction, the SDCS also manages the video, graphic design and editorial products that are created and distributed for the Office of Strategic Communications, a division of Public Affairs, ensuring that digital content strategies promote university initiatives. The SDCS has the expertise to develop first-rate creative work, ensuring that a cohesive brand identity is maintained. The SDCS understands how to effectively translate creative conversations, and will act as a leader in best practices on new and emerging creative strategies for storytelling and marketing/communications campaigns. The SDCS will manage resources on the creative team and find opportunities to collaborate across disciplines in order to maximize visibility and tell fuller and more compelling stories about Georgetown.

Work Interactions

The SDCS reports to the Associate Vice President for Strategic Communications. Additionally, this position works to support the strategic framework of the Office of Public Affairs, and accordingly, works closely on a regular basis with the Vice President for Public Affairs, the Senior Director for Strategic Communications, and the university's editorial team. This position also works in collaboration with staff in the Office of the President and other schools and departments across the university.

The SDCS will supervise the video, graphic design, and social media staff within the Office of Strategic Communications and may include an expansion and scaling of the Creative Services team to include supervising additional employees as demand for creative content continues to increase.

Qualifications
  • 6-8 years in media production and communications experience is required with experiencing setting strategies and goals in a creative production environment.
  • Candidate must have a strong background in video production. Experience with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop as well as other technical aspects of production.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as producer and team player. Demonstrated creative, script writing, editorial and visual instincts.
  • The SDCS must be able to manage a profit-producing creative team that embraces new technology, methods, and strategies and maximizes university resources.
  • SDCS must have a strong understanding of digital and online best practices and be able to articulate these and guide other departments.
