The Division of General Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks an outstanding academician for appointment as an Associate Professor or Full Professor position on either the non-tenure clinician-educator track or the tenure track to serve as Chief of the Division of General Pediatrics. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. and outstanding qualifications in clinical care, education, and research.

The next Division Chief will lead one of the largest divisions at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the largest and most clinically diverse Division of General Pediatrics in the nation. The Division of General Pediatrics is comprised of 160+ faculty and physicians with diverse clinical, educational and investigative interests, 15 fellows, and over 70 staff members.

The Division of General Pediatrics includes the following outpatient clinical programs: Child Abuse Medicine, Pediatric Dermatology, Diagnostic and Complex Care, Foster Care, International Adoption, Neurofibromatosis, Primary Care and Spina Bifida.

The Division has a strong inpatient presence. The Division's Section of Pediatric Hospital Medicine includes; the general pediatric resident services, a sedation service, complex care medicine services, dermatology consultations and a medical behavioral inpatient service.

Teaching responsibilities may include educating the next generation of Pediatric leaders as a priority in the Division and includes fellowship training in Academic General Pediatrics, Child Abuse Medicine, Clinical Informatics, Global Health, Palliative Care, Pediatric Dermatology, and Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine.

Clinical responsibilities may include inpatient or out-patient General Pediatrics service.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include leading a large group of Investigators that are particularly focused on promoting the development, identification, dissemination, and implementation of best practices and effective health policies to improve the health and well-being of children. The group is highly skilled in health services research, quality improvement science, community engaged research, clinical informatics research, and epidemiologic methods.

The Division Chief reports to the Chair of the Department and works closely with the other Division Chiefs, the Associate Chairs, and the Vice Chair in the Department of Pediatrics. The Division Chief will oversee the clinical, research, and educational activities of the Division, lead recruiting efforts in the Division, and ensure career mentoring for all faculty and fellows in the Division.
