Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of non-viral and viral gene therapy approaches for neurodegenerative diseases. Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D degree.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include performing wet bench research, training graduate students or postdoctoral fellows, writing manuscripts, giving scholarly presentation. The successful applicant will have a proven track record of outstanding laboratory research with solid publications and past and current funding support. The investigator will be expected to establish a track record in obtaining significant research funding and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research.

The candidate must be skilled in a wide variety of state-of-the-art molecular biology techniques, cell culture, proteomics, and highly experienced in RNA interference, gene editing methodologies, and the development of gene expression systems using both in vitro and in vivo models. The applicant must also have the ability to manage and curate large datasets such as those arising from next generation sequencing technologies.
