The successful applicant will have an early track record of research applying molecular imaging methodology, especially PET, to the study of psychiatric disorders such as addiction, depression, schizophrenia, or other disorders to which molecular neuroimaging can be applied. Experience in developing and running clinical and translational studies in molecular imaging applied to the study of psychiatry is required, including a record of publication and extramural funding demonstrating the candidate's ability to lead an independent research program.

The Department of Psychiatry has an extensive program of research, including the application of novel imaging methods, molecular genetics, and pharmacogenetics to the study of psychiatric disorders. A unique whole-body PET scanner, well suited for early translational PET studies, was recently completed and will be available for research in 2020. The PET Center at Penn has a rich research program and infrastructure in radiopharmaceutical development, PET imaging instrumentation, advanced image analysis, and extensive support for translational molecular imaging research, including human studies using investigational imaging probes.
