Job Description Summary
The Internet of Things for Precision Agriculture (IoT4Ag) Center is a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded Engineering Research Center (ERC) at the University of Pennsylvania and three partner institutions, Purdue University, the University of California at Merced, and the University of Florida. The IoT4Ag Center invites applications for the Diversity and Culture of Inclusion (DCI) and Workforce Development (WFD) Coordinator position. Under supervision of the Administrative Director of the National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center, the Coordinator will work closely and collaboratively with faculty leaders of two Center pillars - Diversity and Culture of Inclusion (DCI) and Workforce Development (WFD) - to plan, direct, organize, and execute the Center's programs in both areas. This position will:
  • Assist with the development of ERC-content related materials and programs for K-12, college, and adult continuing education.
  • Plan and deliver student, faculty, and staff training and activities that support an inclusive Center climate.
  • Work with DCI and WFD leadership on assessment and data management of outreach activities.
  • Support and coordinate grant and proposal writing to foster and grow the Center's diversity and culture of inclusion, and workforce development efforts.

    Job Description

    The Coordinator of Diversity and Culture of Inclusion (DCI) and Workforce Development (WFD) for the Engineering Research Center will assist DCI and WFD teams with planning, developing, implementing, and coordinating summer programs and other activities throughout the year. Collaborate on curriculum design, development, implementation, evaluation, and research for ERC-related DCI and WFD content. Collaborate with DCI and WFD on conference presentations and support the preparation of outreach publications. Coordinate/plan/execute events, workshops, webinars, and/or meetings. Coordinate logistics, scheduling and participant communications. Identify, develop, and maintain working relationships with university and community partners, including IoT4Ag university partners at University of Florida, Purdue, and University of California-Merced. Perform basic data analysis, research and project reporting. Collaborate with and assist students, faculty, staff, organizations, and other universities in facilitating program objectives. Assist with grant and proposal writing and development to identify resources to improve the DCI and WFD efforts. Attend NSF meetings, either in person or virtually, on behalf of the DCI and WFD teams. Attend professional conferences, as requested. Represent IoT4Ag Center at student recruiting events, particularly at events that may lead to the recruitment and retention of underserved populations.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in educational technology or related field, Master's degree preferred, and a minimum of three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

    Demonstrated experience and competency in the following areas desired:
    • Creation of web-based, instructor-led, and hybrid educational and training programs
    • Instructional design and dissemination of STEM curricula to audiences in K-12, higher education, business/industry, and/or work force development
    • Demonstrated experience developing/administering diversity and culture of inclusion activities
    • Project management and event coordination
    • Grant proposal writing
    • Writing successful research or outreach publications
    • Collecting and analyzing data and publishing research
    • Writing and conducting program evaluation and assessment
    • Website design/development/maintenance
    • Proficiency in Canvas, Zoom, PlayPosit, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Microsoft Suite, and Google Suite
    • Willingness to travel and represent Center approximately one time per month when travel is able to be resumed.
