Description
The Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice launched in September 2018 in the College of Education at Temple University. It is an action research center focused on rethinking and restructuring higher education and social policies, practices, and resources to create opportunities for all students to complete college degrees.Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Specialist is focused on the outward-facing work of the Hope Center with the goal of increasing the visibility of its mission and programs. The Communications Specialist is responsible for social media, digital outreach, dissemination of research, and events marketing and will ensure the consistency, accuracy, and integrity of brand and editorial standards in all communications.The Communications Specialist is responsible for producing written content for social media networks and engaging in strategic development and implementation of social media strategies (particularly Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) to support the Center’s work in collaboration with the Center’s contracted publicist. S/he will devise and execute strategies to reach diverse communities tied to the Center’s mission on local, state, regional, and national levels including developing and managing websites for the Center, its subsidiaries, and events. The Communications Specialist will support the dissemination of the Center’s products such as research reports, briefs, learning tools, workshops, and events, and will participate in event planning for the Center’s annual conference, and project-specific in-person and virtual events. S/he will assist in production of the Center’s quarterly newsletter and provide administrative support for Center activities as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.Required Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree in communications, design, media, marketing, or related field, and at least two years of directly related communications or marketing experience (or Associates degree and 4 years’ experience). Experience should include success in the development and implementation of communications strategies, and the use of digital communications, including web development, social media, and video for the purposes of marketing and/or communications.
