Position: Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Counseling or Associate Professor (with tenure) of Rehabilitation Counseling
Starting Date: August, 2021
1) Earned doctoral degree in rehabilitation counselor education from a CACREP-accredited program OR a related doctoral degree with previous full-time employment as a faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year prior to July 1, 2013
2) Evidence of successful teaching at the graduate student level
3) Evidence of an established record in scholarly engagement
4) Certified as a Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).
5) Commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a multicultural/multiethnic urban campus environment with a substantial population of first-generation students.
6) For an Associate Professor appointment incumbent must have been granted tenure at another accredited degree granting institution.
1) Evidence of successful university teaching with online and hybrid formats
2) Three years of experience at the Assistant Professor level
3) Experience as a rehabilitation counselor in a public, private, clinical, or mental health settings
4) Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a counselor or psychologist in the state of California
5) Evidence of experience with coordination of an academic program at the graduate level
6) Record of involving students in research, scholarly, and creative activities
7) Specific content expertise in one or more of the following areas: a) assessment, b) case management, c) college counseling and student affairs, d) couples and family counseling, e) individual and group counseling, f) research in counseling, g) substance use and co-occurring disorders, and h) trauma and crisis counseling.
The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community. These responsibilities generally include: advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions.
Specific duties include teaching graduate students in the M.S. in Counseling option in rehabilitation counseling; supervising practicum and internship placements; providing academic and career advisement to students; participating in service to the University, and in programmatic efforts to maintain CACREP approval as well as seeking external funding.

Salary: Initial salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
