Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Locksmith (Trades Specialist IV) in the Facilities, Repairs and Renovations Department.
Duties include, but are not be limited to: develop and implement key schedules; schedule and perform the rekeying of requested areas and buildings campus-wide; ensure the security and integrity of the university master keying system; complete key requisitions, including cutting, distribution and record keeping; purchase, repair, and install all associated door hardware; maintain all locksmith shop records, including lock locations, inventory of key codes and key schedules; assisting other trades; provide exceptional customer service to all constituents; and performing other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and related experience in the locksmith trade to include master keying experience. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge and experience with “Best” and “Schlage” locks.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Must have knowledge of locksets and lockset mechanisms. Must be skilled in the use of various trade tools and equipment and have working knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, and supplies used in the locksmith trade. Knowledge of safety practices. Ability to comprehend blue prints, plans, and specifications. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and adequate computer skills to perform his/her assigned duties.
