Position Summary:

The IT Analyst/Programmer works in the data management division at the Collaborative Studies Coordinating Center. The position will design and develop data management systems for large, complex clinical trials and longitudinal studies. The position will consult with and advise statisticians and other researchers on data collection practices, database organization, data reporting and security. The position will subsequently implement a system compliant with agreed upon specifications. The position will manage testing, validation and documentation processes to ensure systems comply with regulatory standards. The position will implement security measures to ensure data security.

Educational Requirements:

Master’s and 1 -2 years’ experience or Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information science and 2 – 4 years’ experience; or a combination of related education and experience in substitution.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

At least one year of professional work experience as a data manager or software developer.

Experience with database management systems using SQL.

Experience programming in Java, JavaScript or another programming language.

Ability to analyze technical requirements and design applications to meet the requirements.

Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently with general guidelines and little supervision as well as in a collaborative team environment working with strict development requirements and guidelines.

Preferred:

Familiarity with web-based software applications, research data collection processes and software testing procedures.

The ability to work on several research projects simultaneously and, handle competing priorities.
