Data Analyst (part-time)

Applications are being accepted for a part-time Data Analyst in the Office of the Provost. The Data Analyst will work on a variety of data projects and operational tasks related to institutional decision-making, policy-making, and strategic planning. This position will report to the Director of Reporting and Data Analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to special project-related work, such as participating in data reporting and analysis to facilitate campus review of various analysis provided by external sources.
  • Use data manipulation languages such as SQL to extract, combine, clean, and process data from various sources.
  • Analyze results using various data analytics.
  • Develop data visualization solutions to help identify patterns or trends.
  • Provide support to scheduled tasks, such as weekly/monthly data loads and reports.
  • Provide support to the annual budget allocation preparation and migration to online solutions.
  • Develop workflows for data extract, transform, and load (ETL) process between systems.
  • Prepare reports on the financial conditions of the Urbana campus units.
  • Create and maintain documentation and user guide materials.
  • Assist in other data reporting assignments as directed.
  • Education and Experience:

    Required –

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management or a field related to position.
  • Two (2) years of professional-level accounting, managerial and/or business experience, including one year at an administrative level.
  • Experience in data systems development, systems integration, data management, data analytics, or business intelligence.
  • Preferred –

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, computer engineering, or information systems.
  • Two years of professional experience in data systems development, systems integration, data management, data analytics, and business intelligence.
  • Experience with university financial and database systems, such as Banner, My UI-Financials and EDW.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel advanced features such as pivot tables, formulas, functions, and macro codes.
  • Experience with data visualization techniques and methods.
  • Experience with .NET (or a similar programming language).
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of SQL and relational databases.
  • Salary and Appointment Information:

    This is a part-time (50%) Civil Service, Business Administrative Associate position. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
