This Senior Resource Attorney position is the primary staff person for the Joint Citizens and Legislative Committee on Children. This includes research and analysis, tracking and development of legislation, preparation of reports and materials, coordination of Committee activities, and oversight of staff. This position is located within the Children’s Law Center and works closely with the elected and appointed members of the Joint Committee.Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions):
Requires Juris Doctorate and 6 years of relevant program experience. Must have experience related to children’s law or services and policy development. Relevant law school internships or externships may count toward the experience requirement. Must be licensed attorney.Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer knowledge of children’s issues and familiarity with the roles of children’s agencies and community organizations in South Carolina. Prefer strong experience in report writing, construction of statutory language, and serving as staff support for committees. Prefer membership in South Carolina Bar. Prefer supervisory or management experience.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must have strong research skills and ability to analyze information and develop policy recommendations. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must be highly organized and have the ability to work independently. Must exercise a high level of judgment and have the ability to work effectively with legislators, legislative staff, agency directors, and all stakeholders involved in children’s issues.Safety Sensitive or Security Sensitive:
