21-Jan-2021 Close All Job SummaryThe Athletics Department encourages applications for an Assistant Sports Dietitian, Football to join our team! The Assistant Sports Dietitian, Football position will serve as an assistant to the Director of Performance Nutrition for the Football program while supporting the goals and initiatives of the Performance Nutrition Department. The position is responsible for assisting in providing individual and team nutrition counseling and education to enhance the health and performance of football student-athletes competing for a highly competitive, Division I athletics program. Responsibilities include sports nutrition education for maintaining and promoting health and wellness for the football program; serving as a food and nutrition resource for football student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers; assist in planning / serving meals and pre/during/post fuel for football athletes. Responsible for collecting anthropometric data, monitoring hydration, and tracking outcomes of nutrition services provided.
This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department’s Mission Statement, Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies, and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Pac 12 Conference, and the NCAA.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Providing individual and team nutrition counseling and education to enhance the health and performance of Football student-athletes competing for a highly competitive, Division I athletics program. Educate and evaluate football athlete’s anthropometrics and provide guidance on appropriate levels of body mass, body fat, and muscle mass that is consistent with good health and good performance. Maintain open, ongoing communication with the Director of Performance Nutrition, Football staff, Strength and Conditioning staff, Sports Medicine, and Team Physicians.
  • Assist at daily meal services, and with meal planning and travel nutrition, supplements, and football fueling hub inventory, purchasing, and distribution. Collaborate with Performance Nutrition Director in budget maintenance and forecasting for Football athlete's nutritional needs.
  • Develop and design educational handouts, and any additional educational needs; perform grocery store tours/cooking demonstrations; assist with recruiting events on weekends as well as during the week.
  • Assist in Managing student intern's schedules and assignments; other duties as assigned. Play a key role in the operational structure and perform any other duties that may arise as assigned by the director.
  • Assist in the supervision of football athlete consumption of nutrition products, including meals and snacks.
What We Can Offer
  • The hiring range is $48,000.00 to $54,000.00. Relocation is available per department guidelines. Athletic Event Tickets: Per Athletic Department Policy and NCAA regulations, Nike Elite Employee Benefit: Per Nike Elite Policy. Supplemental camp pay: per Athletic Department Summer Camp Policy.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Exercise Physiology Dietetics or related field; Registered Dietitian (RD) license.
What You Will Need
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, time and priority management skills.
  • Ability to work as a supportive Performance Nutrition Department team member toward agreed-upon goals.
What We Would Like You To Have
  • Master's Degree.
  • Registered dietitian ISAK Level 1 certification.
  • Two years working within a Division 1 collegiate program, tactical arena, or Olympic venue.
