Job Summary/Description:

Under the Director for Multicultural & Student Activities Programs’ leadership, this position coordinates Registered Student Organizations and various campus activities.

The Student Programs & Activities Coordinator implements best practices to increase the number of Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) and campus activities that promote students’ learning and development.

This position facilitates opportunities that foster students’ community engagement, campus involvement, inclusion practices, and identity/leadership development to cultivate a successful university experience and academic persistence.

Typical Duties/Job Duties:

Manage RSOs: Works with the Director to lead the daily functions of registered student organizations’ (RSO).
Example of functions
Lead daily RSO operations
Maintain registration and other data accurate, organized, and up to date
Understand and present local, institutional, state, and federal policies that impact RSOs
Provide RSO Advisor Resources and Support
Coordinate in-person and virtual programs and activities
Gather and present data to the Director

Mentor RSOs: Works with the Director to provide RSO information, education, and awareness based on current policies and trends.
Example of functions
Coordinate Risk Management Training
Coordinate and foster RSO Roundtable Session participation and involvement
Coordinate the COVID Health & Safety Guidelines Training and encourages adherence guidelines at student activities
Provide student organization success and motivation workshops and seminars
Present data to the Director

Facilitate SOAC and SOLF Procedures: Works with the Director to oversee the Student Organization Advisory Council (SOAC) and manage the Student Organization Leadership Funds (SOLF) distribution.
Example of functions
Interpret and provide concise communication about policies and procedures
Provide RSO financial literacy and fraud prevention workshops
Provide SOAC training and work with them to provide the Director fund recommendations
Evaluate SOLF use to maximize and simplify procedures
Track SOLF expenditures
Facilitate student activities and travel arrangements; including consulting with various departments across campus to expedite processes
Consolidate and present data for continuous improvement: Present data to the Director

Lead Student Campus Activities: Works with the Director to coordinate all logistical phases of programs and activities based on trends and student learning objectives.
Example of Functions
Design, execute, and evaluate student-focused innovative programs and activities in-person and in virtual formats, including but not limited to The Rammy’s, Spring Fling, RSO Xmas Tree Activity, and Cultural Activities.
Create meaningful partnerships with other departments and with the San Angelo community to provide students with opportunities and valuable experiences
Promote student activities using various communication and marketing tools and social media
Maintain RSO Social Media accounts and activities calendar
Present data to the Director

5. Contribute to our Culture of Inclusion: Works with the Director to create a positive and productive environment in the MSAP by promoting and enhancing all MSAP initiatives.
Example of functions
Practice inclusion and collaboration by avoiding biases, listening, sharing, with transparent actions, and providing support to others
Contribute to all the Multicultural & Student Activities Programs and activities as necessary
Share information to enhance the Centers’ student resources and services
Assist in the preparation and distribution of informational materials regarding the MSAP events and schedules
Assist with Student Assistants as necessary
Support and participate in the Ram Pantry hunger awareness initiatives and activities
Unite RSO participation with MSAP activities
Communicate in a professional, service-oriented manner with faculty, staff, students, visitors, and others in performing work or coordinating tasks

6. Commit to Professional Growth: Works with the Director to find professional development opportunities to remain up to date on student development and engagement trends.
Attend training, conferences, professional development seminars, and other meetings as needed
Maintain current knowledge of industry through readings and technical programs
Serve in a variety of campus and community committees/meetings that benefit ASU students.

Knowledge of
student development and activity engagement best practices and current trends
designing, planning, and executing activities with student learning outcomes in mind
student activity planning including designing, marketing, implementing, and evaluating to find opportunities for continuous improvement
budget management, including creating and interpreting reports and maintaining organized data

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors in a related area

Minimum of two years experience (professional or graduate student level) developing and implementing higher education programs/activities

Must be able to work a flexible schedule including periodic nights and weekends. Valid Texas Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the University’s insurance company are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or Education

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time activities.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Must be able to work a variety of hours in order to accommodate activities.
