Position Summary:

The Department of History and the Institute for African American Studies at the University of Georgia invite applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in African American History. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active research agenda, teach undergraduate and graduate courses (with a 2-2 teaching load), and contribute to departmental governance. The successful candidate will be expected to teach AFAM 2000 (an introductory course to African American Studies), as well as cross-listed courses in History and African American Studies. Faculty members are expected to support the college’s goals of creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

Additional Requirements:

Applicants must have their PhD in History, African American Studies, or a related field conferred by July 30, 2021.
