Comprehensive Residence Life programs, Dining, and other support services are tailored to the needs of each community. Student Housing is part of the Auxiliary Services arm of UCI Student Affairs, and partners with campus colleagues to support the academic success and well-being of students. https://housing.uci.edu Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Custodial Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for the cleaning of the facilities within the Middle Earth Housing community as assigned by the Custodial Supervisor and/or Assistant Custodial Supervisor. These duties will include but not be limited to: daily vacuuming, dusting, restroom cleaning and sanitation, cleaning of fixtures, window cleaning, floor cleaning, interior and exterior trash removal, and additional tasks (i.e., furniture moving) necessary to ensure all facilities are maintained at a high level of cleanliness. Responsibilities may include weekend work during opening and closing as well as the conference season. May also include after-hour's emergency response and cleaning. Summer conference season requires occasional Housekeeping service. Compensation Range: Hourly: $17.82 - $20.06 Department Website: http://www.housing.uci.edu Required: Custodial or related cleaning experience.Valid driver's license.Skill to use and maintain Cleaning equipment (vacuums, Mops and pails). Demonstrate working knowledge of the proper application of custodial equipment and chemicals for a variety of cleaning tasks. Skill to communicate in English, verbally and through written form, to a diverse group of people. Skill to complete work orders, in English, for all damages and items needing repair. With special attention to life & safety/security (doors, windows, and fire equipment). Skills to organize many tasks, determine priority and independently complete detailed skills. Demonstrate ability to maintain diplomacy in difficult situations, maintain confidentiality, and to conduct one's self in a professional manner. Ability to participate in work related activities as a team player. Preferred: Demonstrate knowledge of the Injury and Illness Prevention Program as applies to custodial work in a residential environment. Special Conditions Required: Must be available for some overtime and weekend work, willing to respond to after-hours emergencies, able to climb stairs, able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing for the purpose of instruction and record keeping. Work schedule 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Thursday through Monday. Work schedule subject to change as assigned by Supervisor or Department. Initial work assignment is in Middle Earth Student Housing Community but can be changed at any time to meet the business need of the Student Housing. Final candidate subject to background check.
