The COSS Support Specialist is a member of the staff of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension (NCCE). The Support Specialist’s primary responsibility is to provide support to the Extension staff where assigned. The Support Specialist cooperates with colleagues in the NCCE and county leaders in performing assigned responsibilities. The performance of assigned responsibilities is governed by the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the NCCE.Other Work/Responsibilities:
-Providing support for county Extension staff.
-Identify and improve organizational development aspects (such as scheduling for meeting rooms and vehicles) to enhance the efficiency of Brunswick County Cooperative Extension.
-Administer the creation, publishing, proofreading and formatting of relevant, high-quality content (including, but not limited to, social media posts, newsletters, emails, newspapers, postal correspondence and other media) with appropriate logos and statements as needed.
-Create a regular publishing schedule and promote contact through print and social advertising.
-Manage or oversee all social media platforms and websites.
-Maintain a list of relevant contacts at county wide publications and in publishing to those media outlets.
-Provide excellent customer service to call-in and walk-in clients and work with a diverse clientele.
-Assist in program development and management for agents across a variety of subject matter specialties.
-Have knowledge and experience with setting up and utilizing Zoom.
-Promote diversity and ensure diverse audiences are being reached.
-Handle registrations for programs using Eventbrite and other platforms as needed.

Monday - Friday, 8:15am-5:15pm.Minimum Experience/Education:
Graduation from high school and two years office assistance and secretarial experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.Department Required Skills:
Must have at least two years of secretarial experience.
Must be highly motivated and innovative.
Must be a good team member and support and develop a positive work environment.
Must possess accurate typing, proofreading, editing, and computer skills.
Extensive knowledge of computer applications is required including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Good interpersonal communication skills and teamwork ability is required.
The ability to work on issues and maintain confidentiality is essential.
Must be able to successfully complete a skills test that includes proofreading, typing accurately and formatting a document.
Experience in web-page management, desktop publishing, newsletter design and preparation preferred.
General understanding of HTML is preferred.
Must have a willingness to learn new relevant software programs as they become available.Required License or Certification:
