Part-Time Lecturer Pool - Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach Electrical Engineering or Computer Science courses should an opening arise. These are not tenuretrack positions - selected candidates will hold the title of Lecturer. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department. Positions typically range from 17% to 33% time in a given semester. Due to budget restrictions, no funding is available for visa or relocation expenses.

In addition to lecturing responsibilities, general duties for these positions include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus) and maintaining a course website.

Basic qualifications: The minimum qualification required to be considered an applicant for the position is a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree). Must be met by the time of application.

Additional qualifications: The following additional qualifications are required by the start date of the job. Advanced degree or five years teaching and/or industry experience.

Preferred qualifications: Experience teaching courses in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, particularly courses with 200+ students. Experience managing large course staffs.

Salary is based on degree, previous college-level teaching experience, and equity within the department; the starting level is approximately $63,788 annually (fulltime rate) for Electrical Engineering lecturers and $85,788 for Computer Science lecturers.
