Students participating in the Federal Work Study Community program will be asked to attend monthly virtual professional development workshops. The date/time will be determined once all interns have been selected and asynchronous viewing of workshops will be made available for all participants if they are unable to make the session. Interns will also complete a written reflection about the internship highlighting accomplishments, personal growth, and impact of the internship on future career considerations.
AGENCY MISSION
The mission of Charlottesville Abundant Life Ministries is to demonstrate God's love through holistic community development in the Prospect neighborhood.
Duties:
- Support Abundant Life’s academic programs through daily set up and preparatory tasks
- Transport students to the program (when necessary)
- Oversee a small group of children and volunteers each day (M-TH)
- Facilitate positive relationships and interactions among students and volunteers, and implement the daily activity schedule
Depending on UVA student intern interests and Abundant Life’s organizational needs, they will either serve Abundant Life’s elementary support program or our middle school program and report directly to the associated Program Coordinator. That Coordinator will provide training and oversight for Academic Program Assistants as they execute their work responsibilities.
Additional Qualifications:
- Microsoft Word and Excel
- Valid Driver's License. Must possess a good driving record, that is, possess a zero or positive point balance on license.

A criminal background check will required as students will be working with minors. A DMV check will also be required.
A student must be receiving work study funding in order to be considered for this position. Charlottesville Abundant Life Ministries has 4 positions available. The pay rate will be $10-13 per hour based on experience. Position is for 12 hours per week.
Position will end May 14, 2021.
