Director of Recruitment and Admissions, Executive Degree Programs - McDonough School of Business

Located at the intersection of business, government, and international relations, Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business (MSB) develops principled leaders committed to serving both business and society. The Director of Recruitment and Admissions position manages all activities related to the recruitment and enrollment of our Executive MBA program. The Director of Recruitment and Admissions is responsible for supporting all aspects of recruiting outreach including helping the Assistant Dean with marketing strategy, dealing with our digital multimedia vendors, answering all emails, telephone calls and walk-in inquiries for the EMBA program. The Director of Recruitment and Admissions will work closely with the Assistant Dean of Admissions on special project pertaining to the recruitment, admissions and alumni engagement of Executive Education. The Director will assist in implementing all procedures for recruitment outreach and follow-up with prospects. The Director will ensure that all marketing materials content both printed and online are up to date and factually represent EMBA program goals. In addition, the Director of Recruitment and Admissions will engage, cultivate and manage the recruiting pipeline. The Director will work with the Assistant Dean, planning recruiting events such as on and off campus information sessions, online information sessions and occasionally travel to represent MSB at recruiting and alumni fairs. The Director of Recruitment and Admissions will be responsible to update the tracking reports on recruitment and admissions status and work on special projects such AASCB data gathering or other fact data points as per the Assistant Dean‘s request.

Reporting to the Assistant Dean, Executive Education Admissions in the Executive Education Department, overseen by the Associate Dean, Chief Admissions Officer, the Director of Recruitment and Admissions and responsibilities will include:

Recruitment, Events and Prospects cultivation

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Dean in developing recruitment strategy for the EMBA program
  • Implement recruitment strategy, managing the scheduling of on-campus, off-campus and virtual activities.
  • Represent Executive Degree Programs at recruiting events as requested by the Assistant Dean
  • Cultivate prospects throughout the pipeline utilizing personalized high-touch strategies, including connecting them with alumni and/or faculty
  • Follow-up with all inquiries, responding to emails and telephone inquiries within 24 hours. Engage walk-in prospects by conducting one-on-one meetings
  • Engage current students and alumni in the recruiting process
  • Manage mass email communication (via our marketing automation platform Marketo)
  • Ensure that print collateral and website are updated with new information according to recruiting timelines each year and work with the EMBA Academic Director and Program Manager to ensure that website information regarding accurate and up-to-date
  • Ensure smooth transition for enrolling students, including serving as liaison with Student Financial Services, Student Accounts, and executive degree program staff.

Operations Management
  • Manage business processes and operations for all degree programs within the Exec Ed portfolio.
  • Work in consultation with the Assistant Dean to establish and implement all policies affecting the organization and operation of Exec Ed admissions
  • Oversee the application process workflows, ensuring that all deadlines are met and policies are upheld
  • Manage and monitor work performance of admissions operations staff including Assistant Director and student workers
  • Work with Assistant Director to trouble-shoot operations-related issues that arise
  • Ensure that all business processes (and any changes to them) are codified, updated in manuals and the admissions team is trained accordingly

Department Strategic Planning and New Initiatives
  • Collaborate on the overall strategic plan for the Exec Ed Degree Programs as a member of the senior management team
  • Help to plan the Staff
  • within Exec Ed Admissions. Will research, benchmark and present Associate Dean and Assistant Dean with recommendations for Retreat
  • Work with Associate Dean and Chief Admissions Officer and Assistant Dean to identify opportunities for innovation implementation.
  • Lead operations staff on implementing ideas, new technologies and processes.

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 5-8 years in professional environment; experience in higher education/admissions environment is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be comfortable with large institution IT environment.
  • Knowledge of admissions information systems/databases strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal abilities and a poised, professional demeanor are essential
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in maintaining confidential data
  • Critical ability to multi-task, prioritize and execute
  • Critical eye for detail
  • Ability to build relationships with prospective students
  • Experience planning and managing a wide range of events and activities
  • Confidence to take initiative, ask questions and make recommendations with the end goal of process improvement and customer satisfaction
  • Comfort in working directly with executives at all levels and a genuine desire to understand and engage with international cultures
