Position Highlights:

The Department of Civil & Architectural Engineering and Mechanics invites applications for an adjunct faculty position to teach the course CE 463/563 Traffic Flow and Capacity Analysis. Discussion and analysis of major topics include: basic properties of traffic flows; nature and cause of traffic congestion; traffic data collection and analysis; traffic flow theories and solutions for traffic congestion; concepts and analysis of capacity in an urban highway transportation system; analytical and simulation-based approaches to analyze and improve transportation system capacity and efficiency. Classes begin January 13th and run through May 6th with final examinations the week of May 7-13th. Successful candidate will be required to submit copies of transcripts and/or diploma.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Duties and responsibilities include three hours of lecture per week for approximately 5 weeks of the course. The course syllabus will be approved by the department head
  • Instructor must be accessible by students in office hours that may meet on campus or via
    phone/Zoom for 3 hours per week during their instructional period
  • Instructor will be responsible for preparing and delivering all lectures and development and
    grading of homework, projects and examinations
  • Instructor is responsible for entering grades into the UA online system

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Selected candidate will hold a PhD in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering
  • Must have experience teaching at the university level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong educational and work/research experience in traffic flow and analysis
  • Preference to having taught this or a similar course
