Position Summary:The Department of Health Behavior, within the Gillings School of Global Public Health, is an interdisciplinary department of approximately 30 faculty members and 240 graduate students, offering the following degrees: Master of Public Health (MPH), MSPH, and PhD.
This Teaching Assistant Professor role within Health Behavior will be responsible for teaching our graduate students, co-leading a new BSPH program that is under review, and mentoring over 100 students across departments who are fulfilling their Practicum(internship) requirement for their MPH. (Our accreditor requires that all of our Masters of Public Health students take required core classes and complete a practicum/internship).
Educational Requirements:A PhD or equivalent within the area of health behavior is preferred, although candidates with a PhD in a relevant discipline will be considered.
Qualifications and Experience:Candidates must possess not only a deep knowledge of the Health Behavior department and the Gillings School of Global Public Health, but have strong and successful teaching experiences related to Gillings’ courses. He/she must also have prior engagement in racial equity and accountability efforts as well as the ability to effectively convey public health concepts.
