Job Description

The Palliative and Advance Illness Research (PAIR) Center seeks a Research Analyst to collaborate with PAIR Center faculty on development and implementation of statistical analysis plans for randomized controlled trials and observational studies related to critical care outcomes research and serious illness care. Studies include large-scale, pragmatic RCTs, highly controlled efficacy trials, hybrid effectiveness-implementation trials, and large observational studies. He or she will work with PAIR Center faculty, collaborators, and trainees to determine which methods to use to address research questions as well as develop novel methods that advance the field of serious illness care research. Duties include developing and executing analysis plans for clinical trials; conducting complex sample size calculations; guiding data managers on the preparation of analytic data sets (sourcing and standardizing data); implementing advanced modeling strategies for study outcomes (e.g. causal methods, instrumental variable analysis), and working with faculty to develop and publish novel methods that advance the PAIR Center’s mission. The Research Analyst will also make significant contributions to grants and proposals; guide the design of new studies and randomization schemes; and contribute to publishing manuscripts in the primary literature.

Position contingent upon funding.


Qualifications

Applicants must have a Master's degree in Statistics or a related field and at least 5 years of experience or a doctoral degree and 1 year of experience.

Candidates must be proficient in SAS and/or R. Familiarity with STATA is preferred. Experience with instrumental variable analyses, complier average treatment effect analyses, and stepped-wedge randomized trials strongly preferred. Ideal candidates will have a track record of scholarship in healthcare outcomes research, health services research, clinical trials, and in the preparation of manuscripts and/or grants. Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as with collaborators are considered key qualifications.
