Job Details
Aurora University seeks talented faculty who are passionate about teaching and learning. As a private institution, Aurora University expects faculty to be involved in the lives of students through mentoring, student support, enrollment initiatives, and other activities related to the college experience. To facilitate this highly interactive faculty/student relationship, the typical teaching load is three 4 credit-hour courses per semester. Student advising is supported by professional staff. Undergraduate faculty share in the delivery of the general education program, most often by teaching within the university's interdisciplinary core. Evidence of successful teaching, or a strong potential for successful teaching, is required for all positions. Experience teaching at a smaller, private institution is highly preferred.
NURSING: Assistant Professor, Clinical or Tenure Track

The School of Nursing at George Williams College (Williams Bay, WI) is seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant Professor of Nursing. The position will support student learning in the didactic, laboratory and/or clinical setting.
Essential Job Functions:
The function and responsibilities of a Faculty member are specified in the Aurora University Faculty Handbook. In addition, the School of Nursing expects its Faculty members to:
- Support the university mission.
- Observe all School of Nursing and university policies and practices.
- Support School of Nursing mission, goals, and student learning outcomes.
- Fulfill the educator’s roles and responsibilities as assigned.
- Participate in program development and instructional improvement.
- Maintain collegial relationships with the professional community.
- Improve professional competence as a nurse, scholar and educator through formal and informal study, research, and participation in professional and educational activities.
- Participate in student recruitment, retention, and advisement.
- Participate in the governance of the unit.
- Uphold the provisions of the contractual obligations with affiliating clinical agencies; if teaching in the clinical setting.
- Maintain official records, student documents and course materials in School of Nursing files.
- Contribute to the continual improvement of the curriculum and the program.
In addition to the above, Faculty members are expected to:
- Participate in pre-school-year and end-of-year workshop events.
- Assigned Course Workload
- Teach assigned courses
- Participate in the course planning, implementation
- Submit course evaluation to Course Coordinator
Essential Job Requirements:
Education:an earned MSN in nursing (Doctorate preferred)
Experience:have recent experience and demonstrated expertise in one or more Clinical areas of nursing. Previous teaching experience preferred.
Skills:have an understanding of and possess excellent teaching skills. Strong communication (written and verbal) are essential. The candidate must hold an unrestricted license as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois or Wisconsin by the date of hire. Certification in a clinical area of nursing is desirable.
Physical Requirements:Sitting, standing, moving about campus, computer use, technology use.

Athletics

A Brief History of Aurora University
Founded in 1893 in Mendota, Illinois, as Mendota Seminary, the institution soon changed its name to Mendota College. By 1911, it had outgrown its facilities and the following year changed its name to Aurora College and moved to Aurora, where its students could take advantage of a thriving business environment and easy access to Chicago. In 1985, Aurora College changed its name to Aurora University to better reflect the magnitude of its academic offerings. Seven years later, Aurora University and George Williams College traditions blended when the two institutions entered into an affiliation agreement that paved the way for a merger eight years later. In 2010, the Woodstock Center opened to meet the needs of students in McHenry County and surrounding communities.
