Ed.D. Dissertation Committee Member - Online

Position Description:

This is a dissertation chair or committee (adjunct faculty level) position in the Ed.D in
Education program in the School of Educational Leadership. The Education Doctoral Program
includes a student produced, action-research, standard five-chapter dissertation in the field of
education. Responsibilities include guidance of doctoral candidates as a dissertation chair or
committee member. Chairs are expected to meet with students on a bi-weekly basis and
provide various forms of student support throughout the two-year process. Committee
members are expected to connect with their committee on a regular basis and provide quality
feedback on the action-research dissertation. Approved faculty must complete the EdD
Dissertation Training for Research Chairs prior to serving on a committee. These dissertation
committee faculty may also be asked to serve as an adjunct professor as their qualifications and
experience allow.


Qualifications:


Preferred: Ph.D. or Ed.D. or similar doctoral level degree (ex. D.A., DNP., DMIN, etc.)

Required:
Doctoral level degree; Experience in the education field.

Work Experience: At least 5 years of experience in the field of education

Higher Education Experience: Preference will be given to those that have demonstrated experience facilitating:

  • Graduate level courses
  • Online courses
  • Previous dissertation chair or committee


Required Skills:

1. Experience in teaching undergraduate readiness and capstone courses at the college level.
2. Possess a strong Christian commitment with willingness to adhere to the IWU Community Lifestyle statement.
3. Proficiency with adult learner andragogy is considered a plus.
4. Proficiency in using Microsoft products.
5. Demonstrate knowledge of adult learners.
6. Demonstrate knowledge of online learning technology and curriculum delivery tools.
