The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Local Food Program Team is seeking a self-motivated, skilled, and goal-oriented Communications Assistant interested in local food, agriculture, and education. This position will support the Communications Committee in portal website restructuring, website content updates, newsletter creation, and social media. The website is localfood.ces.ncsu.edu.
The main objective of the NC Cooperative Extension Local Food Program is to promote the production, marketing, and consumption of food grown and caught within North Carolina. The Local Foods Program is a collaborative program of the Cooperative Extension Program of North Carolina A&T State University and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service of North
Carolina State University. The Program supports county-based Extension agents partners with many university and community partners across the state and nation to build capacity for local food systems.
This is a part-time 15 hours/week position. This position will be an exclusively remote position until further notice due to COVID-19, but may become an in-person position once staff return to the office on the NC State University campus.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide their own computer with Internet, mobile telephone for communication, and transportation. Frequent travel is not expected for this position, however, mileage and/or transportation costs for meetings and events incurred are eligible for
reimbursement. Access to an automobile is recommended but not required.

-Undergraduate student with coursework in Agriculture Education, Communications, Marketing, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Agroecology, Agriculture or related field preferred.Department Required Skills:
-Excellent communication and writing skills
-Good follow-up, time management and computer skills
-Excellent work ethic and genuine interest in the work of Cooperative Extension
-Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
-Experience managing social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and/or LinkedIn
-Self-motivated and ability to work independently
-Organized with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
-Graphic design and photo editing skills
-Experience with creating e-newsletters, particularly Constant Contact
-Website content management systems experience, particularly WordPress
