Job Description:


The Pre-Nursing Program at Mills College is pleased to announce an opportunity for an instructor to teach BIO 041N: Microbiology for Nurses with Lab for FALL 2021. Our Pre-Nursing Program is distinguished by the rich diversity of backgrounds and experiences our students bring, and by our small size, which fosters a sense of community among students, faculty and staff.


Course Description: A fundamental background that will be applicable to the care of infectious patients, to the control of microbial diseases and an understanding of microorganisms. Emphasis is placed on microscopy, medical microbiology, epidemiology, biotechnology, growth and control of bacteria and viruses, immune systems, and health aspects of microbiology. The laboratory will focus on aseptic technique, identification, microscopic study of bacteria, control of microbial growth, and diagnostic immunology.


Compensation: For faculty new to Mills, compensation is $6,000 per course without a terminal degree and $6,500 per course with a terminal degree. Adjunct compensation is governed by a collective bargaining agreement and increases with seniority at Mills College.



Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications is a master's degree in Biology or an associated field.
Terminal degree in Biology or an associated field is preferred.



Additional Information:


This is an exempt, part-time position. The compensation includes state-mandated benefits including Social Security, State Disability Insurance, Workers' Compensation Insurance, Unemployment Insurance and Sick Day accrual. Employees also receive free admission to campus events, use of the pool, fitness center, and tennis courts.
