Position Summary:

This position will be a native applications designer in IOS and Android for the Communication for Health Applications and Interventions (CHAI) Core. The position is part of a small software development team developing mobile app solutions to support research projects and academic programs. This position will be responsible for interactive mobile apps and development for projects from early requirements through testing and deployment. The candidate will be versed in Android and IOS app development and be expected to code across the CHAI technology stack consisting of Linux, Apache, PHP, Laravel, HTML, CSS, SQL, JSON and JavaScript. The candidate will be expected to test their code according to guidelines, manage it under version control, present work in progress on an emulator, and document all work. The candidate must be able to solve complex coding problems and provide stable, and secure code independently; develop code that is cross-browser compatible for desktop, tablet, and mobile phone experiences; develop code with relational databases; and work with APIs either integrating with a third party or creating custom APIs. The candidate must be able to continue updating their skills as technology changes over time.

Educational Requirements:

Master’s and 1- 2 years’ experience or Bachelor’s and 2 – 4 years’ experience or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal data analyst/programmer will exhibit excellent communication skills, a passion for developing professional expertise, the ability to process complex information, and the ability to provide information to others in ways that are productive. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, have well-developed critical thinking skills, and be able to engage in data investigation and problem-solving with minimal oversight. The candidate must be experienced in developing IOS and Android apps. They must have and understanding of object orientation concepts; experience developing with relational databases, device integration, version control systems such as GIT, SVN, Mercurial, or similar, and be able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a team and contribute and communicate effectively. Strong communications skills both written and verbal. Ability to manage and prioritize tasks.
