Description of primary duties and responsibilities::

The primary duties of the Human Resources Specialist include:

-Administering the University Unemployment Program which includes responding to all claims, state calls, and other inquiries; and reporting as required (working with a third-party administrator).
-Providing support for the Employee Relations (ER) Manager by assisting with the tracking of documents and deadlines, coordinating training and information sessions, and assisting with correspondence in the SHRA and EHRA grievance programs.
-Additional administrative responsibilities will include receiving phone calls and emails from employees, university management and external customers; and corresponding with a variety of internal and external customers.
-Serving as the main point of contact for ER programs; and assisting with ER projects, tracking deadlines, project milestones/requirements and other administrative needs.
-Managing ER policies and forms including proactively managing changes to forms and policies as requested by the Employee Relations Manager and ER team, UNC Systems Office, Office of State Human Resources, and university management. And update ER website. Coordinate Performance Management process.
-Organizing and maintaining exit interview program data, generating quarterly analytical reports, and providing data for the annual report.
-Providing and entering data and developing reports for ER for internal and external requests and requirements; research topics as requested by ER manager to respond to department needs and develops presentations based on research.
-Coordinate the mediation process for SHRA and EHRA employees.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements::

Graduation from a four year college or university; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications::

Human Resources experience, preferably in state or local government.
