Essential Functions:
Serves as subject matter expert in application administration, installation, configuration and implementation. Researches trends and methodology and makes recommendations to improve the University’s application environments (e.g. Ellucian Banner, Workday).
Evaluates issues and suggests technical solutions.
Works with business partners, senior management, and internal/external customers to plan new or enhance existing University applications.
Maintains high-level knowledge of the business processes related to the University systems.
Determines methods and procedures for application administration and provides mentoring and direction to team members.
Responsible for the administration, maintenance, operational support, troubleshooting, documentation and configuration management of University applications.
Monitors and maintains application security.
Identifies and resolves root causes of issues and provides tier-2 support to internal and external customers.
Accountable for maintaining the security and confidentiality of any proprietary or sensitive information or data in any medium regarding the University or its students, faculty, or staff. Accessing or disclosing such information or data must be deemed necessary for the performance of one’s job responsibilities and must be authorized by the employee’s supervisor.
Availability to work after hours and/or weekends and on-call, as specified by supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is strongly preferred. Candidates holding a bachelor’s degree in STEM fields are also encouraged to apply.
Six to twelve years of relevant professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with higher education applications including but not limited to the following: Ellucian Banner, and Banner-related applications like UC4 and DegreeWorks.
Requires extensive knowledge of Linux and familiarity with shell programming and scripting.
Knowledge of container technology (e.g. AWS ECS, Docker, Kubernetes).
Ability to work on problems of diverse scope and complexity.
Uses professional knowledge and technical or advanced business concepts to develop advanced approaches or resolve critical technical and/or business problems.
Ability to work autonomously; receives no instruction on routine work and general instructions on new assignments.
Knowledge of superior customer service standards and practices.
Effective time management, prioritization, and decision making skills when managing multiple competing projects and timelines.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Familiarity with higher education administrative business processes.
Ability to develop programs with programming languages such as bash or Python.
Familiarity with continuous integration tools such as Git, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Jira.
Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills.
Familiarity with web application protocols (DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, TCP/IP).
Strong troubleshooting skills especially web application troubleshooting. Familiarity with the browser developer console.
Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
