Advertised Job Summary:Successful candidate will conduct research on cellular and molecular immunology in the area of Complementary and Alternative Medicine. This includes studies on effects of cannabinoids, AhR ligands, environmental pollutants on autoimmune and inflammatory diseases including cancer. Specifically, the candidate will address the epigenetic mechanisms and microbial dysbiosis underlying immune dysregulation. Several models and patients with autoimmune and inflammatory diseases such as multiple sclerosis, autoimmune hepatitis and liver fibrosis, lupus, septic shock, COVID-19 and cancer are used. Perform laboratory research projects in cellular and molecular immunology/immunotoxicology/complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) involving acute lung injury and tumor rejection, CD44-endothelial cell interactions, immune disregulation by envirronmental pollutants and cannabinoids, effects of botanicals on inflammatory diseases. Routinely on advice from principal investigators, works with students and other laboratory personnel on current methods, ongoing experiments and future research directions, write manuscripts, help prepare grant applications, progress reports, and look after compliance issues. Maintains accurate and detailed records of laboratory experiments and presents these in informal laboratory discussions, group meetings, formal scientific symposia and publications. Coordinates scientific meetings and research retreats to facilitate collaborations among faculty, students, postdoctoral fellows and technologists.
Required Education and Experience:PhD in any area of Biomedical Sciences with experience in multi-parameter flow cytometry.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in -omics technology.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Must have knowledge of hazards of laboratory activities and related safety practices, skill in setting up, care and use of laboratory equipment, and ability to develop and assist with development of new and improved methodology. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.
