Server Systems Administrator
Appointment: Regular, full-time position
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Server Systems Manager, the Systems Administrator (Windows) serves as a key team member in the systems group in Network, Systems, and Enterprise Systems (NSET) group of Technology Services. This role is directly responsible for administering campus-wide Windows server systems in a team environment. The Systems Administrator works closely with campus colleagues maintaining the university's administrative and academic server resources and planning for growth and new services consistent with Puget Sound's mission and strategic objectives. Particular emphasis will be placed on systems integration in a technologically diverse environment, encompassing a variety of Microsoft systems and vendor solutions. In addition, this position will have an important role in coordination/management of projects and operations in the group. This position offers a flexible work schedule to be worked out with the position supervisor.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
o Monitor system performance and utilization
o Install, configure, and document new servers and applications
o Identify, troubleshoot, and fix server and application issues
o Maintain and audit user accounts
o Maintain servers and system security according to campus standards
o Track vulnerabilities and apply appropriate patches and upgrades
o Generate statistics for operational review and planning

Qualifications:

Understanding of protocol technologies such as LDAP, SSL, and Active Directory.
