Elysia Davis and Jenalee Doom (Department of Psychology, University of Denver) and Benjamin Hankin (Department of Psychology, University of Illinois), invite applications for a postdoctoral fellow position, for grant funding for a 5-year NHLBI R01 located at the University of Denver. Title of the R01 is: Reducing maternal prenatal depression to improve child cardiovascular health. Fellows may be funded and supported for up to 3 years, pending performance and grant support. We seek applicants whose research interests and project management skills will contribute to the aims of the project, analysis and dissemination of results. In this project, we will be assessing young children (3-4 years) and their mothers who were part of a randomized clinical trial of Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) provided to pregnant women with elevated levels of depressive symptoms. The study will examine the primary aims of whether reducing depression during pregnancy can affect child cardiovascular health and health behaviors. Project aims of the original trial focus on NIMH RDoC constructs including negative valence systems and cognitive control, with multiple methods and measures to assess these constructs across units of analysis, including MRI, eye tracking, EEG, behavioral observation, and physiology, in infants. In the new R01, outcomes will focus on child obesity and cardiovascular risk (e.g., blood pressure, body fat, arterial stiffness), child diet, maternal feeding behaviors, child eating behaviors, and child sleep and physical activity.
- Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., developmental, health psychology, or clinical) by the time the position starts.
- Prior project management experience, including managing data for large, longitudinal studies.
- Experience working with biological and/or health behavior data, including measures of obesity and cardiovascular health, sleep, diet, eating behaviors, physical activity, and biomarkers (e.g., inflammatory markers, cortisol).
- Experience in clinical research, and in particular managing and supervising a large research project.
- Experience, knowledge, and/ or research interest in pregnancy/womans health, mental health in underserved and predominantly minority populations, as well as developmental psychology and risk mechanisms.

The salary grade for the position is 8.
The salary range for this position is $52,704 - $64,008/annually.

The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
