Job Description:

The Institute of Global Health and Human Ecology (IGHHE) at the American University in Cairo (AUC) is seeking applicants at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Applicants at higher ranks may be considered if exceptional. Graduates and applicants who have a research focus in one or more areas of Occupational Safety and Health, including, but not limited to industrial hygiene, human health risk assessment, or Kinesiology and biomechanics are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant is expected to develop a community based collaborative research agenda focused within the field of Public Health and Human Ecology and advise/engage undergraduate and graduate students. The candidate will also actively participate in collaborative projects relevant to their area of expertise.

Primary responsibilities will include teaching, research, and service. As examples, the candidate should have the ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: Industrial Monitoring and Risk Assessment, Occupational Safety and Ergonomics, Kinesiology and Biomechanics, Injury Prevention. The successful applicant is expected to develop a community based collaborative research agenda focused within the field of Public Health and Human Ecology and advise/engage undergraduate and graduate students, and professional collaborations. The candidate will also actively participate in community-based projects relevant to their area of specialization and advise/accompany students in their fieldwork.

The IGHHE, an interdisciplinary institute, is committed to establishing and growing expertise in the core Global Public Health tenets of biostatistics, epidemiology, and implementation science methods. It houses the MPH and PhD in Global Public Health) with concentrations in Environmental Health, Precision Health and Public Health Policy and Management, as well as the MS in Sustainable Development. There are many collaborative opportunities within the School of Sciences and Engineering, with its focus on interdisciplinary programs, the Center for Applied Research in Environmental Sustainability (CARES), and across AUC's participating schools and centers. Successful candidates will be expected to develop an independent program of innovative research in their area of interest, while cultivating collaborations with other investigators in the Institute and University. In addition, successful candidates will be expected to teach core graduate courses and mentor graduate students. Requirements:

The successful applicant will hold PhD degree or equivalent. The candidate selected for this position must demonstrate a collaborative record with diverse disciplines within the biomedical and engineering disciplines and involve students in related fieldwork. Candidates with versatility in research interests, inclusive of non-communicable diseases, and translational research are encouraged to apply.
