The Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) and the Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Geriatric Psychiatry, medical education and strong leadership skills. Applicants must have an M.D. degree. Must be board Certified in Geriatric Psychiatry.
Teaching responsibilities may include participation in educational mission of the Department of Psychiatry and evaluation, development and implementation of Geriatric Psychiatry core curriculum. Other teaching responsibilities may include clinical education of medical students, Psychiatry residents and Geriatric Psychiatry fellows. Candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of experience participating in residency education, supervision, mentoring and administration.
Clinical responsibilities may include providing clinical care in ambulatory clinical programs and the Community Living Center at the VA, as well as various ambulatory and consultative clinical settings at Penn that align with candidate's strengths.
The successful candidate will play an integral role leading our Geriatric Psychiatry academic and clinical programs. Leadership responsibilities will include serving as the training director for our ACGME accredited post graduate fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry and developing a Geriatric Psychiatry Division by coordinating and integrating core mission areas at the PVAMC and the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Psychiatry Candidates should have strong administrative, clinical and teaching skills, and a commitment to the broad mission of academic psychiatry fostering academic excellence, outstanding clinical operations, program development and innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and coordination across practice locations.
