Job Summary
Columbus State University has openings for Program Assistants in their Empowered Youth of Columbus (EYC) After School Program for at-risk youth within the Department of Continuing and Professional Education (CPE). These are temporary, part-time, grant funded positions with an opportunity to teach for summer camp, and is renewable. The successful candidate will provide arts enrichment classes for EYC. This position requires a flexible schedule due to evening events and will report to the EYC Program Director.

Responsibilities
The selected candidates will assist with student activities where assigned and be actively engaged with students at all times; assist with homework or in the enrichment lesson as needed; assist in the upkeep of equipment and supplies; assist in set-up, clean-up, and material collection at the end of the day; assist in taking attendance and student sign-in and sign-out; coordinate with and encourage other staff to maintain a positive behavior management of students; be prepared to coordinate alternative recreation and enrichment activities should a tutor or teaching artist be unavailable; assist with data collection required by the grant; attendance at an orientation meeting and monthly professional development training; attend and help facilitate all EYC events; and all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma; or any equivalent combination of experience and education. The selected candidate should have work experience with youth programs; engage well with children; demonstrate a responsibility for the well-being of children; be a positive role model; be highly energetic; and enjoy working in an after school environment. The program runs Monday - Thursday, 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. The selected candidate must be able to work 14 hours per week, 2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Proposed Salary
The salary is commensurate with education and experience.
