Job Summary

The Director of Academic and Clinical Engagement for the College of Education will work to recruit undergraduate and graduate students; to maintain partnerships and establish new partnerships for the College's four departments as related to recruitment and placements; and to assist with clinical engagement, field placements, and internships for COE programs.

Responsibilities

• The Director of Academic and Clinical Engagement for the College of Education will work with COE leadership to establish new recruitment partnerships and to maintain current partnerships (i.e., Pathways Programs). This will include contact with school district administrators, community stakeholders, and current teachers.
• Organize and participate in targeted recruitment of students into teacher education and kinesiology with focus on increasing the diversity of teacher candidates with regard to ethnic, cultural, and linguistic background. Distribute information to K-12 schools that supports recruitment for graduate teacher education endorsements and programs. Recruit for graduate programs in all departments.
• Lead efforts with College of Education Ambassadors (student group) focused on recruitment and plan and facilitate campus recruitment events (i.e., field trips, Professional Association of Georgia Educators Future Georgia Educators Days, annual recruitment fair).
• Work with Director of Field Placement to hire, train, liaise with, and mentor contract supervisors each semester. This will include assisting with supervisor training, supporting and providing assistance with unique program or site demands, communicating clinical expectations for teacher candidates, and evaluating supervisors in collaboration with department heads.
• Provide support to K-12 schools and UNG faculty to resolve issues with teacher candidate clinical placements. House and maintain cause for concern forms, professional development plans, and follow-up with students and schools regarding issues. Work with faculty, department heads, and Director of Field Placement in this process.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s in Education degree; Educational Specialist degree is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate preferred
• Demonstrated experience in teaching, advising, and admissions are preferred.
