Qualifications
The applicant should have a PhD in physics or in a closely related field with expertise in one or more of the topics mentioned above. Applicant’s previous experience in one or more of the following techniques is desired: laser molecular beam epitaxy, resonant x-ray scattering, electronic and thermal transport, microfabrication, and photoemission spectroscopy. Experience in programing softwares, such as Labview and MATLAB, is a plus. Considering the interdisciplinary nature of the research, the applicant should be highly self-motivated with strong interests in emergent phenomena and collective excitations in quantum materials. UT’s Department of Physics & Astronomy has an exemplary research record, with seven professors earning NSF CAREER awards in the past eight years, eight professors recently cited among the world’s top two percent of physicists (based on citations), and Professor Geoff Greene honored with the prestigious Bonner Prize in 2020.
