Job Description

ERP/Oracle PeopleSoft Applications Programmer, Intermediate

Under general supervision, participates in the development, maintenance, and production support of Oracle/PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (PS HCM - HR/Payroll), Campus Solutions (PS CS - Student Administration) and Financials Management (PS FMS - Financials Management System) applications.

  • Modifies and writes application programming code as required for moderately complex functions.
  • Creates and modifies the programming objects required for the PeopleSoft system such as pages, records, processes, etc. using the Oracle delivered integrated development environment.
  • Coordinates with users and other members of ITS or NAU departments on modifications, fixes, and implementation of new functionality for assigned areas during phases of development and testing.
  • Assists users in analyzing and defining system design requirements, technical documents, and procedural flows when developing and implementing projects.
  • Performs research to resolve issues and develops usage skills with integrated/external systems used by NAU, 3rd party vendors, and peer institutions.
  • Creates documentation of work performed according to established procedures, gathers/organizes information on problems or procedures, and performs data analysis for possible improvements.
  • Assists in the development of system specifications, programming guidelines, and other policy and procedure documentation as assigned.
  • Demonstrates a sensitivity to cultural diversity issues and an ability to communicate and interact effectively with others while representing ITS & NAU.
  • May be required to participate in on-call functions and/or on-call incident management.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • Provides functional office direction and high-level integration testing support for Oracle/PeopleSoft upgrades, updates and fixes implementations, and testing.
  • Provides technical expertise and assistance to less experienced developers to meet departmental/programming standards and procedures, and/or to enhance technical skill.
  • May be required to participate in on-call functions and/or on-call incident management.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

ERP/Oracle PeopleSoft Applications Programmer, Intermediate

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field AND two years of systems/programming experience; OR,
  • Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field AND four years of systems/programming experience; OR,
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

ERP/Oracle PeopleSoft Applications Programmer, Senior

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field AND four years of systems/programming experience; OR,
  • Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field AND six years of systems/programming experience; OR,
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

ERP/Oracle PeopleSoft Applications Programmer, Intermediate

  • Experience developing applications using PeopleTools version 8.55 or higher.
  • Experience in Higher Education.
  • History of working as part of a development team.

ERP/Oracle PeopleSoft Applications Programmer, Senior

  • Experience developing applications using PeopleTools version 8.55 or higher.
  • Experience in Higher Education.
  • History of working as part of a development team.
  • Knowledge of FMS and/or HCM system modules and functionality.

Background Information

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting.

In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus and NAU-Fort Defiance as these campuses have on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.

Salary

Commensurate with experience.

**The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.


FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System; paid vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents.
