The Postdoctoral researcher will be involved in working in a project to study aging, stress, and neurodegeneration in the model organism C. elegans. This work will involve the use of tools image processing, and microfluidics, coupled with fluorescence imaging. In addition, this project involves the use of genetic and environmental perturbations, molecular engineering techniques for generation of new strains, as well as optogenetics and calcium imaging.
- Lead the intellectual, experimental, and data analysis aspects of the research project.
- Publish work in recognized scientific journals.
- Work with the rest of the research group on collaborative projects and on lab-specific duties.
- Train junior graduate students and undergrad researchers.
- Present work at national and international conferences.
M-F, 8 AM-5PM unless noted otherwiseDepartment Required Skills:
The candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment with student researchers, including teaching laboratory best practices, analytical characterization, and other laboratory skills. The candidate must also work effectively with Department staff, including responding to Departmental or University requests as indicated by the lab PI.Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:
PhD in Bioengineering, Genetics, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Neuroscience, or a related field.
Experience with imaging, C. elegans culture, microfluidics, and molecular cloning are preferred.Required License or Certification:
